The Jiangsu Provincial Department of Science and Technology has released the proposed project list for the 2024 Jiangsu Industry–University–Research Collaboration Programme. Among the successful applicants is Jiangsu Gaolu Composites Co., Ltd., in partnership with Huaiyin Normal University, for their joint proposal: "Development of Polyurethane–Carbon-Fibre Composite Microwave-Absorbing Materials".
The project aims to create a polyurethane–carbon-fibre composite that delivers enhanced electromagnetic shielding and absorption, thereby reducing microwave radiation exposure from electronic equipment. Key tasks are:
1. Surface modification of carbon fibres via electrochemical oxidation to increase oxygen- and nitrogen-containing functional groups.
2. Investigation of oxide loading on the modified carbon-fibre surface.
3. Optimisation of the material's manufacturing process.
As a provincial priority science and technology initiative, the programme fosters close collaboration between universities and enterprises to accelerate the translation of research into commercial application and to power corporate technological advancement. This achievement not only underlines Jiangsu Gaolu's strength in innovation but also marks a new chapter in deep industry–academia integration and the industrialisation of collaborative R&D.
