Jiangsu Gaolu Composites Co., Ltd., in collaboration with Donghua University, has secured a place on the "2024 Top Ten Scientific Advances in Jiangsu Province (New Materials, Chemical Engineering & Textiles Sector)" list for its joint project: "R&D on Automated 3D Braiding Technology for High-Density, Ultra-Thick Carbon-Fibre Preforms."
This initiative represents a pioneering partnership between Jiangsu Gaolu and Donghua—China’s premier textile university—focused on fundamental research and key-technology breakthroughs in the 3D braiding of aerospace-grade, high-performance fibre-reinforced composite preforms. The project has delivered multi-directional, high-density, ultra-thick preform braiding equipment intended for critical applications in aerospace, rail transport and other advanced defence and civil sectors.
The technology provides Chinese manufacturers of aerospace-grade, high-density, ultra-thick curved composite components with domestically branded, state-of-the-art braiding systems. It accelerates the adoption and development of high-performance composite structural parts, directly addressing China’s strategic demand in cutting-edge defence and vital civilian industries.

Organised annually by eight federated societies under the Jiangsu Association for Science & Technology, the selection follows a rigorous process of nomination, formal review, preliminary evaluation and comprehensive assessment.
